1) The market is down again this month (OCT) 3-4 mo's in a row, but only a little over 2% down YTD!  Still we are spoiled by last year's excellent results.  This is a real downer for them even tho' it's a marginal decline;

2) DOMESTICS outpacing IMPORTS (read, Japanese)

3)  Some notables are up; Jag, Volvo, Mitsu, but all from "small #'s"; and

Automobility LA - Here comes the CUV

First, did you know that the LA Auto show is now called Automobility LA?  Cool! The influential show,is often the stage for U.S. introductions of vehicles first shown at European auto shows in the months prior, This year’s show, follows recent industry trends, expanding past product to include mobility and its position in the wider automotive industry. Many of the new product introductions are skewed towards the Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV).

A Mercedes Luxury Pickup?

Can you believe it? A luxury pickup from Mercedes?  Mercedes-Benz is jumping into the luxury pickup game, where profits are plentiful. The luxury automotive brand, a division of German automaker Daimler, revealed a premium pickup truck dubbed the X-Class. The company on Tuesday showed off a concept version of the mid-size pickup truck at an event in Stockholm, saying the five-seat ride will hit showrooms in late 2017. But there's a catch. It's not initially targeted at the U.S.

Nissan has a better sales month, but is it playing fairly?

Yesterday, Nissan announced that October sales declined 2.2% to 113,520 vehicles.Thus, Nissan looks pretty good -- or at least less bad than its competition as most saw sales decline more significantly. 

Weak Auto Manufacturer Sales Reports and idle plants

As we expected, the auto manufacturer's sales reports today were weak, as both GM and Fiat Chrysler reported their U.S. sales slipped in October, hurt by fewer selling days and a cutback in fleet sales, amid what is expected to be another month of declines across the industry. 

US Auto Sales Continue to Decline in October

U.S. new-vehicle sales are expected to decline for a third consecutive month. Forecasts from the major analysts show sales falling 6 to 8 percent from a year ago. That would be a better performance than it appears because October has two fewer selling days than it did in 2015.
